How it affects the environment:
- Succession affects the environment because many abiotic factors such as landslides and mudslides cause a massive reformation of the landscape. The disturbance caused by landslides and mudslides allows for disturbance-tolerant species to repopulate the habitat. If these species locate somewhere else then the land will not thrive because these species are needed to pollinate flowers, spread seeds, get rid of insects that kill plants, and also they are just an important part of this habitat.
- Succession also decreases biodiversity because if causes many animals to migrate to other environments because their home was disturbed.
- The soil is also affected with does not allow new plants to grow, this can cause a decrease in a certain species' population because that could be their only source of food.
