Location on Planet Arda
On the map located on the left Giant Pandas live in the green-shaded area that has a circle around it. This type of biome is known as a temperate deciduous forest.
The Temperate Deciduous Forest has many trees, such as the Maple, Elm, Brasswood, and more. It also has a diverse amount of flowers (mostly in the springtime) and animals. The animals include Black Bears, Foxes, Squirrels, etc. The soil it very rich, so it supports much plant life.

Changes in Planet Arda
As, the years have gone by giant pandas have had to move around a lot in order to survive. There was a large volcanic eruption that was very near the habitat of the pandas and many other animals. The temperatures increased dramatically because the trees were not present to provide shade. Many of their resources were buried under the molten lava therefore causes many of the species to go extinct because they had no way to get the nutrients they needed. Many of the prey died off, because they were herbivores and the lack of plants caused them to not be able to eat anything. Slowly as their population decreased the predators died off as well because they had not food to eat. Some did survive because they migrated to other locations in order to get the resources they needed. As time went by these species developed new adaptations to their new environment, in order to be able to survive.
Impact on other Organisms
This change also greatly impacted the food chain. The producers all died off causing the primary consumer such as the small insects that eat the plants to die because they had no food. The lack of insects cause the secondary consumers to die as well, or at least the ones that did not migrate and adapt to other areas. They lack of these food resources made finding food really hard, and the competition to get the food was very violent. Many of the animals that survived began to eat other animals, even if they were originally herbivores, this caused their teeth to evolve into sharp fangs overtime so they could bite into the meat. Although the species were learning new survival skills it still caused a decrease in their populations at first because if they were herbivores their body was not used to digesting meat, therefore causing a decrease in that population.
